OFFICIAL NOTICE:

Closure of the Langwith Community Pantry

Rhubarb Farm has been running The Langwith Community Pantry for over two years, supporting hundreds of local residents with affordable food and essential household items.

The Pantry has been delivered by Rhubarb Farm in close partnership with Langwith Parish Council and the local community, operating from Langwith Parish Hall to provide accessible and affordable support.

After careful consideration, we are very sad to announce that The Pantry will close on Friday 20th February, as we are no longer able to sustain the service financially.

This decision was not taken lightly.

Over recent months, we explored every available option to keep The Pantry open - including seeking additional funding, reviewing costs, and adapting how the service operates. Unfortunately, rising costs and a reduction in available funding mean the project has become unsustainable.

We know how important the Pantry has been to so many people in our community, so we are genuinely pleased that a new community group is being established to continue a similar service in the same location.

Although Rhubarb Farm will not be involved in forming or governing this new group, we fully welcome and support the continuation of a community‑led service.

To help enable a smooth transition, we will transfer all Pantry stock and equipment to the new group, with the exception of a small number of items required for Farm operations.

Although our role in delivering the Pantry is coming to an end, Rhubarb Farm remains here for you.

We will continue to provide Emergency Food Boxes from the Farm or the Recovery Space whenever they are needed.

We will also continue to deliver our wider charitable aims - offering practical help and advice, wellbeing support, volunteering opportunities, and activities designed to improve confidence, connection, and quality of life.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported the Pantry over the last two years - our partners, funders, volunteers, and all members of our community who have helped make the Pantry such a valued and well‑used service.

We would also like to thank Pantry users themselves for their kindness, support, and connection throughout the life of the project.

Finally, we wish the new community group every success as they work to continue this vital service for local people.
